To make an NFT collection from your layers, put each trait type in its own folder, import the parent folder into the studio, set rarity and rules, and export a ZIP of up to 20,000 images with their metadata, all for free. Everything you need to make your collection, your way.
Bring your artwork.
Create one folder for each layer: Background, Body, Eyes, Headwear, and anything else your collection needs. Put the trait images directly inside those folders, then place all the layer folders in one parent folder.
Use PNGs with transparent backgrounds for everything that sits above another layer. All traits should use the same canvas dimensions and alignment. PNG, JPG, and WebP work. Each image can be up to 50 MB and 8,192 pixels in either dimension.

Open the generator, sign in with your email or a wallet, choose your parent folder, and name your collection. Layers at the top of the list appear in front. Drag to reorder them, or use the arrow controls.
A higher weight makes a trait more common. Exact count gives a trait a fixed number of appearances, with weighted traits sharing the rest. A filename like Crown#5.png starts with a weight of 5. Add an empty trait when a layer should sometimes be absent.
Give your collection some ground rules.
Use the Rules tab to stop two traits from appearing together. The planner checks whether your requested collection can satisfy all the rules, exact counts, and uniqueness constraints.
Finished artworks belong in the 1 of 1s tab. Each included piece appears once and counts toward the collection total. You can scatter them through the collection or place them at the end. A folder named “1 of 1” is recognized during import.
Get to know every personality.
The preview shows the actual planned artworks in export order. Adjust rarity or rules and the preview updates. Shuffle gives you a new seed and a fresh collection.
The same traits, layer order, rules, counts, and seed produce the same collection. The generator checks visible combinations, including traits that hide the layers underneath. If a layer is fully opaque, it may reduce how many unique pictures are possible.
Make it, then take it.
The export step gives you two ways to build, both free. On this device, generate and download a ZIP with your PNG or JPEG images, individual JSON metadata, a combined _metadata.json file, an OpenSea metadata CSV, a rarity CSV, and collection settings. Nothing is uploaded.
The planner supports up to 20,000 unique artworks. Large exports take more time and memory. In-memory ZIP downloads are limited to 512 MB; supported browsers can stream larger exports directly to disk. Keep this tab open until generation finishes. The studio suggests the cloud when a collection looks too big for this device.

For heavy collections of up to 10,000, slower devices, and phones, choose Build in the cloud at the export step. Your trait images are uploaded once: a dropped connection picks up where it stopped, and nothing is sent twice. A fast machine then builds every artwork, and once the upload is done you can close the tab.
Your collection comes back as one ZIP, laid out exactly like one built on this device, with an option to save it straight into a folder, and a private link that opens the build from any browser. Anyone with that link can open it, so share it with care. Everything is kept for a few days, then deleted, so download it in time. A cloud build needs no extra sign-in: it uses the one you opened the studio with, and your cloud builds show up in My collections on any device you sign in on.

Give your images a home.
Generation creates the art and metadata. It does not host your images for the public, deploy a contract, or mint tokens. Choose your own hosting and minting service when you are ready.
After hosting the images, enter the images folder URI (for example, ipfs://your-CID) and download updated metadata. On this device, enter it in the Metadata tab and press Download metadata, or open your finished ZIP with Update metadata in a finished export, in My collections. A cloud build has the same step on its build page. Replace the default placeholder before minting. Keep the seed and settings unchanged so artwork and metadata stay aligned. Third-party hosting or blockchain fees are separate.
Keep a copy of your world.
Your projects save automatically in this browser, on this device. Open My collections to return to a project, download a backup, import a backup, or remove a project.
Browser data can be cleared or evicted. A project backup ZIP contains your trait images and settings so you can move to another device or recover your work. A finished collection ZIP contains the output; a project backup contains the editable source. Keep both.
Every limit, in one place.
Here is everything the studio caps when you build on your device, so nothing surprises you halfway through.
A cloud build has limits of its own, shown at the export step. When we checked on September 22, 2026, a cloud build made up to 10,000 artworks from up to 2,000 trait images (each up to 40 MB and 4,096 px on either side, 1,500 MB in all), at up to 4,096 pixels wide.
Collection size: up to 20,000 NFTs, 1 of 1s included.
Trait folders (layers): up to 64.
Traits per folder: up to 2,000.
Images per import: up to 10,000.
Each image: PNG, JPG or WebP, up to 50 MB and 8,192 pixels on either side.

A few good questions.
Is Puffles completely free?
Yes. Import traits, set rarity, generate your collection on your device or in the cloud, and download full-resolution images and metadata without subscriptions, export fees, or watermarks. External hosting and minting services may charge their own fees.
Do I need an account or a wallet?
A quick sign-in, yes. The studio asks for one before you start, with your email or a wallet: no password, no fee. Signing in sends none of your artwork anywhere. Projects are saved in this browser on this device, and project backups let you move your work elsewhere. A wallet is never required.
Does my artwork leave my device?
Only if you choose it. Building on your device happens in your browser and uploads nothing. A cloud build, which you pick at the export step, uploads your trait images to make the collection, keeps the results for a few days, then deletes them.
What is included in my export?
Your PNG or JPEG artwork, individual JSON metadata, combined metadata, OpenSea CSV, and a rarity report. Everything arrives in one ZIP with your collection settings, the same from your device or the cloud. A cloud build can also go straight into a folder you choose.
How large can my collection be?
The planner supports up to 20,000 unique artworks, subject to the combinations your traits allow. Large collections need more time and memory on your device, so supported browsers can write exports directly to disk. Or choose a cloud build and let a fast machine make them; the export step shows how many it takes.
Can I make a 10,000 NFT collection for free?
Yes. There is no per-NFT fee, no watermark and nothing to pay at any size up to 20,000. Build it on your device, or with a free cloud build (the export step shows how many a cloud build can make). Your traits just need to allow enough different combinations, and the studio tells you when they don’t.
Does Puffles mint my NFTs or deploy a contract?
No. Puffles makes your images and metadata files. It doesn’t mint, deploy a contract or host your files. When you’re ready, upload the images to a host you choose, set their address in the studio, and mint with the service you prefer.
Which blockchains does the metadata work with?
Puffles writes OpenSea-style metadata for Ethereum and the chains that work like it (EVM chains): one JSON file per NFT with its name, description, image and traits, plus OpenSea’s drop spreadsheet. It doesn’t write the formats other kinds of chains use.
Can I use it on my phone?
Yes, where your phone’s browser lets you choose a folder of images. Pick Build in the cloud at the export step, so a fast machine makes the images instead of your phone. You can also start on a computer and open your project backup from My collections on the phone.
Does Puffles draw the artwork for me?
No. You draw the traits, one folder of images for each trait type, and Puffles combines them into a collection. It never invents artwork of its own.
